Influence of Several Parameters on Simulating the Ballistic Impact on a Homogenous Plate
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014This paper presents a simulation of a bullet impact on a plate made of a homogeneous and isotropic material. The developed model takes into account the yield and fracture limits of both involved materials for the bullet and the plate one. The model was developed with the help of Ansys 14.0 and could be used to establish a theoretical value of the plate

Ballistic impact simulation for the safety in tool machines
2012Numerical control (CNC) boring and routing machines use curtains made from resistant, but flexible materials to protect end-users from the projection of tool pieces. These curtains allow the work piece to gently pass through, but have to firmly stop every small sharp piece or fragment ejected by fast drilling tools at the highest speed.

A Simple Analytical Model to Simulate Oblique Ballistic Impact onto Fabric
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011A simple analytical model for oblique ballistic impact of projectiles into fabrics are presented. This model is extension of Chocron-Benloulo penetration model. Results are compared with experimental data. There is good agreement between analytical and experimental results.

Numerical Simulation of Ballistic Impact of Layered Aluminum Nitride Ceramic
2015Abstract : Numerical simulations of ballistic impact and penetration by tungsten rods into targets consisting of layers of aluminum nitride ceramic tile(s), polymer laminae, and aluminum backing are conducted over a range of impact velocities on the order of 1.0 to 1.2 km/s.

Towards reliable simulations of ballistic impact on concrete structures
2013Protection against weapon effects like ballistic impacts, fragmenting shells and explosions is the core business of the Explosions, Ballistics and Protection department of TNO (The Netherlands). Experimental and numerical research is performed to gain and maintain the knowledge to support the Dutch MoD and the industry to evaluate and develop adequate ...

Lagrangian methods for ballistic impact simulations/
2010This thesis explores various Lagrangian methods for simulating ballistic impact with the ultimate goal of finding a universal, robust and scalable computational framework to assist in the design of armor systems. An overview is provided of existing Lagrangian strategies including particle methods, meshless methods, and the peridynamic approach.
