Analytical and FEM Analyses of High-Speed Impact Behaviour of Al 2024 Alloy
The present work investigates the impact behaviour of Al 2024-T3 alloy using FEM analysis performed through LS DYNA software. Johnson–Cookvisco-plastic model is used to study the ballistic impact resistance of target Al alloy impacted by a rigid steel ...

Simulation and Experimental Tests of Ballistic Impact on Composite Laminate Armor [PDF]
This paper presents the experimental testing and simulation results of ballistic impact tests on laminated armor samples that consist of three layers of different materials: fiber‐cement, Kevlar fabric, and steel. In experimental tests, a 9 mm FMJ bullet was launched towards a 100 cm2 sample of the armor from the fiber‐cement side.

Ballistic and physical properties of highly fractured alumina [PDF]
It is known that ceramic materials in armour are often shattered by a penetrating projectile and the resistance to penetration is therefore dependent upon the properties of this failed material.

Ultrahigh Ballistic Resistance of Twisted Bilayer Graphene
Graphene is a good candidate for protective material owing to its extremely high stiffness and high strength-to-weight ratio. However, the impact performance of twisted bilayer graphene is still obscure.

Characterization of the ballistic limit curve for metallic Whipple shield
It has been known that space debris or meteoroid impact damage can have significant effects on spacecraft. Experimental test has been conducted up to 7 km/s, and numerical simulations are performed at higher velocities.
