A Review of Mechanical Reinforcement and Piezoresistive Self‐Sensing in Carbon Nanotube Fiber Composites

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
PSPP‐TRL mapping of CNT‐modified CFRP literature, with four recurring confusions resolved and five scale‐up problems quantified. ABSTRACT Carbon nanotube‐modified fiber composites are often presented as a route to stronger, tougher, and self‐sensing structural materials.

Joint Optimal Allocation of Resources for Multiple Jammer Based on Multi‐Agent Deep Reinforcement Learning

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar & Navigation
In response to the complex scenario where multiple jammers navigate through a netted radar system (NRS), this study presents an optimised allocation algorithm for cooperative jamming resources, namely the Multi‐Agent Jamming Resource Allocation (MJCJRA ...

Recycled Polyacrylonitrile Nanofiber Interleaves With Graphene Nanoplatelets for Adhesively Bonded Composite Joints: Lap‐Shear and Opening‐Mode Fracture Performance

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Textile‐waste Orlon is transformed into recycled PAN nanofiber interleaves for tougher and more damage‐resistant adhesive bondlines. ABSTRACT This study presents a sustainable toughening strategy for adhesively bonded CFRP joints by using electrospun polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofiber interleaves produced from virgin PAN (vPAN) and recycled PAN (rPAN ...

Simulation of closed vessel combustion using the 2D ICT-Cellular-Combustion-Algorithm

open access: yes, 2022
S.546-554A model using the ICT-Cellular-Combustion-Algorithm (ICCA) is presented which makes it possible to simulate closed vessel combustion of propellants with arbitrary cross sectional geometry. ICCA enables the user to explore new possible propellant

Experimental and Modeling Investigation of Seawater Hydrolysis Effects on Aramid Fiber Rupture Behavior

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Hydrolytic aging in seawater produces markedly different mechanical responses among commercial Aramid fibers. While some fibers exhibit progressive degradation, others maintain stable or even improved tensile behavior. Experimental yarn‐scale testing combined with mathematical degradation modeling and Arrhenius‐based lifetime prediction provides new ...

Synthesis and Characterization of an Azido Nitrofurazanyl Ether: An Energy‐Rich Heterocyclic Plasticizer With a Low Glass Transition Temperature

open access: yesPropellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We report on the synthesis and characterization of 3‐(2‐(2‐azidoethoxy)ethoxy)‐4‐nitro‐1,2,5‐oxadiazole (NFPEG2N3), which is a liquid nitrofurazanyl ether that was designed to be an energy‐rich plasticizer for glycidyl azide polymer (GAP)‐ and nitrocellulose (NC)‐based formulations.

Tuning the Morphology of Self‐Assembled Nanopatterns on MgO(001) Surfaces by Sequential Broad‐Beam Ion Irradiation

open access: yesphysica status solidi (RRL) – Rapid Research Letters, EarlyView.
A two‐step approach based on broad‐beam ion irradiation is demonstrated to produce fine‐tuned self‐assembled surface patterns on MgO(001). It shows an efficient route to modifying the crystalline MgO(001) surface topography in a controlled way, making use of its very specific behavior in terms of both the pattern morphology and patterning dynamics.
