Let’s See a Boy and a Balloon: Argument Labels and Syntactic Frame in Verb Learning [PDF]

open access: yesLanguage Acquisition, 2014
It is by now well established that toddlers use the linguistic context in which a new word-and particularly a new verb-appears to discover aspects of its meaning. But what aspects of the linguistic context are most useful? To begin to investigate this, we ask how 2-year-olds use two sources of linguistic information that are known to be useful to older

A Soft‐Tip Hydraulically Steerable Catheter for Enhanced Flexibility and Safety in Vascular Interventions

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study introduces a hydraulically steerable catheter with a soft tip in vascular procedures. The steering soft tip achieves a minimal diameter of 2.6 mm and supports a 180° bend. Real‐time shape and position tracking, facilitated by segmentation and endpoint detection techniques, improves navigation.

Enhancement of Ultrasound B-Mode Image Quality Using Nonlinear Filtered-Multiply-and-Sum Compounding for Improved Carotid Artery Segmentation

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2023
In ultrasound B-mode imaging, the axial resolution (AR) is commonly determined by the duration or bandwidth of an excitation signal. A shorter-duration pulse will produce better resolution compared to a longer one but with compromised penetration depth ...
