The traditional C‐arm is problematic or even unfeasible for patients with OVCF with spinal deformity. In response, our institution has adopted the O‐arm‐based navigation system. During the PKP surgical procedure, the patients were scanned using an O‐arm, and the image data were automatically transferred to the StealthStation navigation system to ...

Incidence of fracture in adjacent levels in patients treated with balloon kyphoplasty: a review of the literature. [PDF]
The available evidence suggests that the treatment of painful vertebral compression fractures (VCFs) secondary to osteoporosis or multiple myeloma, by cement augmentation with balloon kyphoplasty (BK), is both safe and effective.

Bone cement displacement, resulting in severe back pain and exacerbation of kyphosis, was a chronic complication after vertebral augmentation in the treatment of Kümmell disease (KD). Data of patients treated with PKP and HPS‐KP were collected and evaluated. Through finite element biomechanical analysis of different surgical methods in the treatment of

Balloon Kyphoplasty for Osteoporosis: Technical Notes [PDF]
Vertebral fractures are the most common fractures in osteoporosis and have significant impact on quality of life and survival rates, as well as carrying increased socioeconomic costs (Becker, S. 2008). Kyphotic deformity results from those fractures are associated with increased morbidity and mortality (Johnell, O.1996; Edidin AA, et.al. 2011). Balloon

Epidural pressure measurement using a fiber‐optic sensor (proof‐of‐principle in vivo animal trial)
This study was the first to measure a cerebrospinal fluid pulse wave using an optic pressure probe with continuous time‐ and location‐resolved recording of the pressure distribution in real time. A simulated lumbar spinal stenosis could be accurately identified.
