A case of exposure to Bancroftian filariasis in a traveller to Thailand
Travel Medicine and Infectious Disease, 2006A New Zealander travelling recreationally to Asia became exposed to Bancroftian filariasis. The traveller had presented incidentally with gastrointestinal illness. In addition to diarrhoea, the traveller's symptoms were non-specific and there was no eosinophilia, lymphoedema, lymphangitis, lymphadenitis, or pain.

Parasite Antigenemia without Microfilaremia in Bancroftian Filariasis
The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 1996The term "endemic normal" in the context of filariasis refers to people who are amicrofilaremic and free of clinical signs or symptoms of filariasis despite regular exposure to the parasite. Some sera from endemic normals contain soluble Wuchereria bancrofti antigens that are detectable by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.

Observations on agglutination and the thigmotaxis of microfilariae in bancroftian filariasis
Transactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 1957Abstract 1. (1) Phenomena interpreted as agglutination and thigmotaxis of microfilariae were observed in vitro in heparinated venous blood from a number of W. bancrofti carriers, recent immigrants from Cochin, India. 2. (2) Distinct patterns of “Medusa head” and “sunflower” formations of the agglutinated masses of microfilariae were noted.
