Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Optimizing the Band Alignment of the MZO/CdSeTe/CdTe Solar Cell by Varying the Substrate Temperature of MZO Film

open access: yesEnergies
Cadmium telluride (CdTe) photovoltaics is a promising and scalable technology, commanding over 90% of the thin film photovoltaics market. An appropriate window layer is crucial for high-efficiency CdTe solar cells.

Investigation of the Energy Band at the Molybdenum Disulfide and ZrO2 Heterojunctions

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2018
The energy band alignment at the multilayer-MoS2/ZrO2 interface and the effects of CHF3 plasma treatment on the band offset were explored using x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The valence band offset (VBO) and conduction band offset (CBO) for the MoS2 /

Band splitting and relative spin alignment in bilayer systems

open access: yes, 2001
Influence of relative spin alignment on the band splitting and magnetic excitations in the bilayer correlated systems is studied. Splitting occures to be large or small depending on orientation of staggered spins of layers.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Chalcogenide perovskites: enticing prospects across a wide range of compositions and optoelectronic properties for stable photodetector devices

open access: yesNano Express
Photodetectors are indispensable components of many modern light sensing and imaging devices, converting photon energy into processable electrical signal through absorption, carrier generation and extraction using semiconducting thin films with ...

Band Alignment in Molecular Devices: Influence of Anchoring Group and Metal Work Function

open access: yes, 2008
We present periodic Density Functional Theory calculations of the electronic properties of molecular junctions formed by amine-, and thiol-terminated alkane chains attached to two metal (Au, Ag) electrodes.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...
