Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

From Type II to Z-Scheme: A DFT Study of Enhanced Water Splitting in the SGa2Se/TeMoS Heterojunction

open access: yesCrystals
Harnessing solar energy for photocatalytic water splitting and hydrogen fuel production necessitates the development of advanced photocatalysts with broad solar spectrum absorption and efficient electron-hole separation.

Electronic Structure and Band Alignments of Various Phases of Titania Using the Self-Consistent Hybrid Density Functional and DFT+U Methods

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2019
To understand, and thereby rationally optimize photoactive interfaces, it is of great importance to elucidate the electronic structures and band alignments of these interfaces.

Computational Design of α-AsP/γ-AsP Vertical Two-Dimensional Homojunction for Photovoltaic Applications

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
Based on first-principles calculations, we design a α-AsP/γ-AsP homojunction with minimum lattice distortion. It is found that the α-AsP/γ-AsP homojunction has an indirect bandgap with an intrinsic type-II band alignment.

Intrinsic alignments of group and cluster galaxies in photometric surveys [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Intrinsic alignments of galaxies have been shown to contaminate weak gravitational lensing observables on linear scales, $r>$ 10 $h^{-1}$Mpc, but studies of alignments in the non-linear regime have thus far been inconclusive.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

The band alignment of nonpolar m-plane ZnO1−xSx/Mg0.4Zn0.6O heterojunctions

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2020
Heterostructures such as heterojunctions, quantum wells, and superlattices are core components of advanced optoelectronic devices. Herein, we attempted the first investigations on the band alignment of nonpolar m-plane oriented ZnO1−xSx/Mg0.4Zn0.6O ...

Fe/BaTiO3 interface: Band alignment and chemical properties [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Physics Letters, 2011
Ultrathin BaTiO3/Fe bi-layers were synthesized on MgO(001) and SrTiO3(001) substrates by pulsed laser deposition in a single vacuum cycle. The full electronic band structure at the Fe/BaTiO3 interface has been determined by hard x-ray photoemission spectroscopy measurements.

Measurement of band offsets in Si/Si1–xGex and Si/Si1–x–yGexCy heterojunctions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Realization of group IV heterostructure devices requires the accurate measurement of the energy band offsets in Si/Si1–xGex and Si/Si1–x–yGexCy heterojunctions.

Tunable crystal symmetry in graphene-boron nitride heterostructures with coexisting moir\'e superlattices

open access: yes, 2019
In heterostructures consisting of atomically thin crystals layered on top of one another, lattice mismatch or rotation between the layers results in long-wavelength moir\'e superlattices.
