YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

The stability of a procedure for the recovery of lost samples in band-limited signals [PDF]

open access: yesSignal Processing, 1994
The paper deals with the problem of stability of a procedure for the recovery of lost samples in band-limited signals. Theoretically, for band-limited signals, the positive-definite character of reconstruction matrix \(S\) guarantees the existence and uniqueness of the solution of the reconstruction problem.

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Mesodiverticular Band of Meckel’s Diverticulum Causing Small Intestinal Obstruction in Littre Hernia

open access: yesNational Board of Examinations Journal of Medical Sciences
Mesodiverticular band associated with Meckel’s diverticulum can lead to surgical emergencies like intestinal obstruction or volvulus and may prove fatal as this pathology is quite rare, it may escape the clinical diagnosis.

Effect of compression modalities for recovery on wrestlers' biomarkers in one day tournament

open access: yesCentral European Journal of Sport Sciences and Medicine, 2019
The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of different compression modalities as to recovery enhancement on some biomarkers in wrestlers. Serum creatinine, lactic acid and glucose level were tested in elite wrestlers before a match-up, 3 ...

The crystal structure of the Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase BBE22 resolves a long‐standing annotation error

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase (PncA/BBE22) reveals the correct full‐length protein initiated from a non‐canonical AUU start codon. The structure validates previous biochemical findings and resolves a long‐standing annotation error, demonstrating that the truncated database sequence is structurally incompatible with the ...

Band-Limited Proximal FISTA for Efficient Sparse Harmonic Recovery on MCU

open access: yesBig Data and Cognitive Computing
Compressed sensing (CS) enables signal reconstruction from fewer measurements when the signal is sparse in a transform domain. However, executing ℓ1-regularized recovery on MCU-class hardware is challenging due to limited compute resources and the cost ...
