2190 Longitudinal changes in EEG power envelope connectivity are proportional to motor recovery in chronic stroke patients

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Translational Science, 2018
OBJECTIVES/SPECIFIC AIMS: The objective of this study is to determine the degree to which the use of a contralesionally-controlled brain-computer interface for stroke rehabilitation drives change in interhemispheric motor cortical activity. METHODS/STUDY

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Prognostic Factors Associated With Early Recovery From Veno‐Arterial Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation Support in Patients With Fulminant Myocarditis

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease
Background Fulminant myocarditis is life‐threatening and often requires mechanical circulatory support. Predicting its clinical course is crucial, yet data on early recovery predictors, particularly with veno‐arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation,

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Effect of compression modalities for recovery on wrestlers' biomarkers in one day tournament

open access: yesCentral European Journal of Sport Sciences and Medicine, 2019
The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of different compression modalities as to recovery enhancement on some biomarkers in wrestlers. Serum creatinine, lactic acid and glucose level were tested in elite wrestlers before a match-up, 3 ...

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Mesodiverticular Band of Meckel’s Diverticulum Causing Small Intestinal Obstruction in Littre Hernia

open access: yesNational Board of Examinations Journal of Medical Sciences
Mesodiverticular band associated with Meckel’s diverticulum can lead to surgical emergencies like intestinal obstruction or volvulus and may prove fatal as this pathology is quite rare, it may escape the clinical diagnosis.
