Auditory-nerve-fiber bandwidths and critical bandwidths in the cat
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1976The effective bandwidths of cat auditory-nerve fibers were estimated electrophysiologically from the masked thresholds of tones at the nerve fibers’ characteristic frequency. The masking noise was of variable bandwidth but constant total power and was geometrically centered on the characteristic frequency.

Revisiting Bandwidth-on-Demand Enablers and Challengers of a Bandwidth Market
2006 IEEE/IFIP Network Operations and Management Symposium NOMS 2006, 2006This paper revisits the concept of bandwidth on demand. In the late 1990's, the promise of instant bandwidth availability led to the development of market mechanisms that companies used to trade bandwidth just as other commodities. Those trading markets all but disappeared with the bursting of the telecom bubble in March 2001.

Duality between Broadcasting with Bandwidth Expansion and Bandwidth Compression
2007 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2007We consider the problem of broadcasting kldr samples of an independent identically distributed (i.i.d) Gaussian source to two users in n = lambdakldr uses of an AWGN channel. We develop a framework which shows a duality between a source-channel coding scheme for the case of lambda > 1 and that for lambda < 1.

Greedy reclamation of unused bandwidth in constant-bandwidth servers
Proceedings 12th Euromicro Conference on Real-Time Systems. Euromicro RTS 2000, 2002A framework for scheduling a number of different applications on a single shared pre-emptable processor is proposed, such that each application seems to be executing on a slower dedicated processor. A tradeoff is identified and evaluated between how precise a notion of real time (as measured by the granularity of its clock) an application needs to have

Differential bandwidth and equivalent bandwidth for overloaded multiuser communications
International Symposium onInformation Theory, 2004. ISIT 2004. Proceedings., 2004This paper presents the basic CDMA model with jointly optimal signature sequences and power allotment for overloaded multiuser communications. The linear minimum mean-squared-error (LMMSE) receivers are being employed. It is shown that the Welch bound equality (WBE) sequences are optimal sequences for equal SINR requirements.
