Kernel Bandwidth Estimation for Nonparametric Modeling [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 2009
Kernel density estimation is a nonparametric procedure for probability density modeling, which has found several applications in various fields. The smoothness and modeling ability of the functional approximation are controlled by the kernel bandwidth.

Bandwidth Estimation Using Network Calculus in Practice [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electronics and Telecommunications, 2019
An available bandwidth at a link is an unused capacity. Its measuring and/or estimation is not simple in practice. On the other hand, we know that its continuous knowledge is crucial for the operation of almost all networks.

Simulation Technique for Available Bandwidth Estimation [PDF]

open access: yes2010 Fourth UKSim European Symposium on Computer Modeling and Simulation, 2010
The paper proposes a method for measuring available bandwidth, based on testing network packets of various sizes (Variable Packet Size method, VPS). The boundaries of applicability of the model have been found, which are based on the accuracy of measurements of packet delays, also we have derived a formula of measuring the upper limit of bandwidth. The

NexGen D-TCP: Next Generation Dynamic TCP Congestion Control Algorithm

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
With the advancement of wireless access networks and mmWave New Radio (NR), new applications emerged, which requires a high data rate. The random packet loss due to mobility and channel conditions in a wireless network is not negligible, which degrades ...

BET: A Hybrid Bandwidth Estimation Tool [PDF]

open access: yes11th International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Systems (ICPADS'05), 2006
In this paper we propose a tool that aims to integrate and improve existing tools for the available bandwidth estimation. We discuss our proposal analyzing each component of our architecture. Results from experimental analysis of our architecture and several comparative analyses with other existing and spread used tools are shown.

On a Nadaraya-Watson estimator with two bandwidths [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Statistics, 2021
In a regression model, we write the Nadaraya-Watson estimator of the regression function as the quotient of two kernel estimators, and propose a bandwidth selection method for both the numerator and the denominator. We prove risk bounds for both data driven estimators and for the resulting ratio.

A System-Theoretic Approach to Bandwidth Estimation [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, 2010
It is shown that bandwidth estimation in packet networks can be viewed in terms of min-plus linear system theory. The available bandwidth of a link or complete path is expressed in terms of a {\em service curve}, which is a function that appears in the network calculus to express the service available to a traffic flow.

MODIFIED PASSIVE AVAILABLE BANDWIDTH ESTIMATION IN IEEE 802.11 WLAN

open access: yesJournal of ICT, 2020
Quality of Service provisioning for real-time multimedia applications is largely determined by a network’s available bandwidth. Until now, there is no standard method for estimating bandwidth on wireless networks.
