Utility optimized bandwidth allocation in WiMAX networks
2011 7th International Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing Conference, 2011Distribution of radio resources in fourth generation (4G) networks requires sophisticated Radio Resources Management (RRM) techniques to guarantee a sustainable level of Quality of Service (QoS) support. By analyzing the adaptive nature of the project applications and their traffic it is possible to substantially enhance broadband service delivery.

Pathperf: Path Bandwidth Estimation Utilizing Websites
2013Most bandwidth estimation tools require access to both ends of a measured path, which is increasingly difficult considering the constantly expanding size of the Internet. We present Pathperf, a tool for estimating bulk transfer capacity by downloading files from websites at one end of a path.

Utilizing bandwidth sharing in the slotted ring
IEEE Transactions on Computers, 1990A slotted-ring protocol that performs well across the full range of message length distributions is presented. The relative performance of the protocol is best at low to medium ring utilization, which is the most usual operating condition for local area computer networks.

On utility‐optimised router‐level bandwidth allocation
Transactions on Emerging Telecommunications Technologies, 2012ABSTRACTKelly's network utility maximisation (NUM) problems and solutions are aimed to maximise the aggregate utility subject to link capacity constraints. They are formulated and solved by using the individual flow rate vector. Because of the architecture of the current networks such as the Internet, the individual flow rates are generally not ...

Performance Analysis of Bandwidth Utilization in WiMAX Network
2015 International Conference on Computing Communication Control and Automation, 2015Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) is currently one of the newest technologies in wireless communication. International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has defined a spectrum for each region, (Asia is in 3rd region) which is fixed for lifetime.

Large Bandwidth Optical Modulators Utilizing Millimeter Wavelength Drivers
MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 2005This paper describes the research and development effort under way at Hughes Research Laboratories (HRL) to design, fabricate, and test infrared traveling-wave modulators that can be excited by millimeter-wavelength drivers. The modulators are designed for eventual use in high-data-rate communication systems and for laser wave-length shifting in ...

Maximum spectrum utilization by wide bandwidth transmission
IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Communications, 1963Because more and more people communicate with one another, various frequency bandwidths have become congested. In the future there will be growing need for more efficient utilization of bandwidth. To reduce this congestion the tendency has been to use smaller transmission bandwidths.

Bandwidth utilization efficiency enhancement for OFDM‐based WSN
International Journal of Communication Systems, 2018SummaryNormally IEEE 802.16 (WiMAX) is used for mainly downlink traffic applications. However in the upper tier of 2‐tier (WiMAX‐WiFi) wireless sensor network, the uplink bandwidth faces bottlenecks for high throughput. In this paper, a solution has been proposed for this limitation of uplink bandwidth allocation through the use of queuing theoretic ...

Utility-Based Bandwidth Allocation for Triple-Play Services
Fourth European Conference on Universal Multiservice Networks (ECUMN'07), 2007It is expected that, in near future, the multi-class traffic previously in public switched telephone network (PSTN), cable television network and IP network will be multiplexed at backbone and carried by the converged next-generation network (NGN). A pragmatic challenge in facilitating NGN is how to schedule traffic and allocate bandwidth among the ...

New coding techniques for improved bandwidth utilization
Proceedings of 37th Conference on Foundations of Computer Science, 2002The introduction of parallel models that account for communication between processors has shown that interprocessor bandwidth is often the limiting factor in parallel computing. In this paper, we introduce a new coding technique for transmitting the XOR of carefully selected patterns of bits to be communicated which greatly reduces bandwidth ...
