We attempted to assess the prophylactic effect of human umbilical cord blood–derived CD34+cells in experimental heatstroke. Anesthetized rats, 1 day before heat stress, were divided into 2 major groups and given CD34−cells (defined by 1 × 106human cord ...

Was this crisis something new or a replay of familiar historical phenomena? Will policy interventions be able to mitigate its costs?

Structural and functional characterization of chitinase from carnivorous plant Drosera adelae
A class I chitinase from the carnivorous plant Drosera adelae was expressed and purified using a yeast system, revealing high enzymatic activity. Structural analyses of the catalytic and chitin‐binding domains identified key tyrosine residues involved in substrate binding, offering insights into the enzyme's adaptation for insect digestion.

Angubindin‐1 binds angulin‐1/‐3 at tricellular tight junctions, enhancing intestinal macromolecule permeation. Alanine scanning identified six essential residues (L562, L598, E638, V640, Y643, and K644) of angubindin‐1 critical for binding to angulin‐1/‐3 and permeation‐enhancing activity, providing insights for the development of targeted noninvasive ...

This study optimizes a two‐step induction system to generate PGCLCs from chicken ESCs. The induced cells express germline markers and migrate to gonads in ovo, offering a novel approach for avian genetic resource conservation. Primordial germ cells (PGCs) are the progenitor cells of sperm and eggs.

Dirac Gluinos in the Pyramid Scheme [PDF]
I point out several terms in the low energy effective Lagrangian of the Pyramid Scheme, which were missed in a previous analysis of the phenomenological consequences of the model. They lead to a Dirac contribution to the gluino mass, much larger than the
