NAFLD‐related hepatocellular carcinoma: The growing challenge

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Risk and protective factors for NAFLD‐related hepatocellular carcinoma Abstract Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common cause of cancer‐related mortality and morbidity worldwide. With the obesity pandemic, NAFLD‐related HCC is contributing to the burden of disease exponentially.

Crystallography‐Dependent Plating/Stripping Kinetics and Interfacial Morphologies in Zn Metal Anodes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
SECCM coupled with fast‐scan cyclic voltammetry enables facet‐resolved measurements of Zn plating/stripping kinetics on single‐crystal (002), (100), and (101) surfaces. The close‐packed (002) facet exhibits the lowest exchange current density, whereas the more open (100) facet is kinetically fastest.

Design of Giant Negative Thermal Expansion Based on a Fluorite Structure

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Ba[B(CN)4]2 with a fluorite structure possessing a large average atomic volume was successfully synthesized for the first time. In situ powder X‐ray diffraction measurements revealed that Ba[B(CN)4]2 exhibits giant negative thermal expansion (NTE) behavior through non‐rigid unit modes with strongly negative Grüneisen parameters.

Bardoxolone Methyl Ameliorates Compression-Induced Oxidative Stress Damage of Nucleus Pulposus Cells and Intervertebral Disc Degeneration Ex Vivo

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2022
Intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) is the main cause of low back pain, and little is known about its molecular and pathological mechanisms. According to reports, excessive compression is a high-risk factor for IDD; compressive stress can induce ...

Plant‐driven changes in soil microbial communities influence seed germination through negative feedbacks

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2019
Plant–soil feedbacks (PSFs) drive plant community diversity via interactions between plants and soil microbes. However, we know little about how frequently PSFs affect plants at the seed stage, and the compositional shifts in fungi that accompany PSFs on
