Bare nouns with different edges
2010The central observation in this paper is that bare nouns display an ambiguous interpretation only under coordination. Adopting a strict syntax-semantic mapping, this paper focuses on this property and argues that the ambiguity follows from the level of complexity of the left periphery: plural and mass bare nouns have different readings according to ...

Analyzing Yorùbá Bare Nouns as DP
Lagos Notes and Records, 2009This paper examines count nouns in Yorùbá and makes the claim that such nouns are bare (cf. Ajiboye 2005). Structurally, it proposes that the nouns are to be analyzed as Noun Phrases (NPs) that are contained inside a Determiner Phrase (DP) which is headed by a null Determiner (D). The claim is supported by both empirical and theoretical evidence.
