Abstract Authigenic barite has been identified in soil pedons in southeastern Oklahoma, eastern Texas, and northern Louisiana. The barite appears as fine, white powder on structural surfaces and in small pockets in the lower argillic horizon or just beneath it.

GEOPHYSICAL PROSPECTING FOR BARITE *
Geophysical Prospecting, 1974AbstractA case history is presented for the exploration of barite with the electrical resistivity method. Altogether eight locations were recommended out of which six correspond to barite bodies. In the present case the gravity method, which is commonly used for the location of barite because of its high density contrast with the host rocks, has failed,

An investigation was made of the thermal behavior of natural barite (barium sulfate) and of its effect as a major constituent in whiteware bodies. The maturing characteristics and fired properties of twenty‐five barite bodies were compared with those of two conventional semi‐vitreous bodies. Barite bodies were found to be particularly promising for the

Abstract: Barite deposits are known to be present in 23 counties in Kentucky, principally in the Central Kentucky Mineral District and the Western Kentucky Fluorspar District. Field investigations and a literature search indicate the presence of barite at more than 170 outcrops, prospects, and abandoned mines.

Photoelastic properties of barite
Proceedings of the Indian Academy of Sciences - Section A, 1951All the 12 elasto-optic constants of barite have been determined and the values obtained for λ 5893 are $$\begin{gathered} p_{11} = 0 \cdot 21 p_{44} = 0 \cdot 002 p_{12} = 0 \cdot 25 p_{23} = 0 \cdot 19 \hfill \\ p_{22} = 0 \cdot 24 p_{55} = 0 \cdot 012 p_{13} = 0 \cdot 16 p_{31} = 0 \cdot 275 \hfill \\ p_{33} = 0 \cdot 31 p_{66} = 0 \cdot 037 p_ ...
