Barium sulfate aspiration pneumonia: A fatal case of death

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2022
Accidental aspiration of barium is a rare event. We present the case of a patient who, after the administration of barium, he showed sudden cough with dyspnea and vomiting and chemical pneumonia with areas of consolidation.

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Tumor‐stromal crosstalk and macrophage enrichment are associated with chemotherapy response in bladder cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemoresistance in bladder cancer: Macrophage recruitment associated with CXCL1, CXCL5 and CXCL8 expression is characteristic of Gemcitabine/Cisplatin (Gem/Cis) Non‐Responder tumors (right side) while Responder tumors did not show substantial tumor‐stromal crosstalk (left side). All biological icons are attributed to Bioicons: carcinoma, cancerous‐cell‐

Determination of Rare Earth Elements in Barite-associated Rare Earth Ores by Alkaline Precipitation Separation-Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesYankuang ceshi, 2019
BACKGROUND When inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) is used to determine the rare earth elements (REE) in the barite-associated light rare earth ores, Ba and light rare earth elements La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, cause severe mass spectral ...

Stability of the barium-benzo-15-crown-5 complex in nitrobenzene saturated with water [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2006
From extraction experiments and γ-activity measurements, the exchange extraction constant corresponding to the equilibrium Ba2+(aq) + SrL2 2+(nb) _ BaL 2 2+(nb) + Sr2+(aq) occurring in the two-phase water-nitrobenzene system (L = benzo-15-crown-5; aq ...

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Gestational and Early Childhood Exposure to Barium and Cardiometabolic Risk in Preschoolers: Findings From the Ma’anshan Birth Cohort Study in China

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease
Background Animal studies suggest cardiovascular systems may be primary targets for barium toxicity. This study aims to examine longitudinal associations of prenatal and early childhood barium exposure with cardiometabolic risk (CMR) in preschoolers ...

INFLUENCE OF ALKALINE – EARTH METALS ON ANODIC BEHAVIOR OF ALLOY ССУЗ IN NEUTRAL ENVIRONMENT OF THE ELECTROLYTE NaCl

open access: yesЛитьë и металлургия, 2018
The anodic behavior of a lead-antimony alloy (3 wt% Sb) doped with alkaline-earth metals was investigated in potentiostatic method in the potentiodynamic mode at a potential sweep rate of 2 mV/s and it was shown that with an increase in the content of ...

High-Mobility Pentacene-Based Thin-Film Transistors With a Solution-Processed Barium Titanate Insulator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
—Pentacene-based organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs) with solution-processed barium titanate (Ba1.2Ti0.8O3) as a gate insulator are demonstrated. The electrical properties of pentacene-based TFTs show a high field-effect mobility of 8.85 cm2 · V−1 ...
