The origin of barium in the Cambrian–Vendian aquifer system, North Estonia [PDF]

open access: yesEstonian Journal of Earth Sciences, 2009
Identification of the barium occurrence and its origin is made on the basis of the groundwater chemistry study. High Ba content has been detected in the Cambrian–Vendian aquifer system in the coastal vicinity of the Gulf of Finland in Estonia and St ...

Pharmacological Inhibition of Inward Rectifier Potassium Channels Induces Lethality in Larval Aedes aegypti

open access: yesInsects, 2018
The inward rectifier potassium (Kir) channels play key roles in the physiology of mosquitoes and other insects. Our group, among others, previously demonstrated that small molecule inhibitors of Kir channels are promising lead molecules for developing ...

Role of Liquid Composition in the Transient Liquid Assisted Growth of Superconducting YBa2Cu3O7‐δ Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The Y supersaturation in the [Ba‐Cu(I/II)‐O] transient liquid composition is the driving force toward YBCO nucleation and growth in TLAG. Tuning the initial (Ba:Cu) molar ratio in the ink composition determines the YBCO epitaxial nucleation through supersaturation control.

Gamma ray attenuation properties of lead-barium sulfate-epoxy composite materials [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Technology and Radiation Protection
This study focused on examining the performance of some composite materials made from a fixed mixture of epoxy and polymer with varying amounts of barium sulfate and lead powder added, to study their ability to shield against gamma rays.

Ion‐Reconfigurable “N”‐Shaped Antiambipolar Behavior in Organic Electrochemical Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A unique N‐shaped negative differential transconductance (NDT) characteristics is demonstrated in single‐polymer organic electrochemical transistors through a sequential doping–redox–doping process driven by iodide ions. This redox‐driven mechanism enables low‐voltage, ion‐controlled reconfigurability and tunable current modulation, allowing seamless ...

Study of the Hyperfine Structure of Sr II, Ba I and Ba II: An MCDHF Approach for Modeling the Low-Lying Levels

open access: yesAtoms
Using the Multiconfiguration Dirac–Hartree–Fock method as implemented in the General Relativistic Atomic Structure Package, the magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole hyperfine structure constants were determined for the ground and first excited levels ...

Role of the Recombination Zone in Organic Light‐Emitting Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the critical role of the recombination zone in organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs). We highlight that broadening the recombination zone in OLEDs based on emissive layers with balanced charge transport and high photoluminescence quantum yields provides a promising route toward achieving both long operational lifetime and high ...

Ba–Sr–V as Geogenic and Traffic Tracers in Paediatric Hair from Urban–Industrial Spain, with Co-Located Topsoil Vanadium

open access: yesToxics
Urban–industrial environments can generate mixed geogenic and traffic-related metal signatures in paediatric scalp hair, yet interpretation is challenged by left-censoring and limited health-based guidance values for hair.

Ammonothermal Synthesis, X‐Ray and Time‐of‐Flight Neutron Crystal‐Structure Determination, and Vibrational Properties of Barium Guanidinate, Ba(CN3H4)2

open access: yesChemistryOpen, 2019
We report the crystal structure of Ba(CN3H4)2 as synthesized from liquid ammonia. Structure solution based on X‐ray diffraction data suffers from a severe pseudo‐tetragonal problem due to extreme scattering contrast, so the true monoclinic symmetry is ...
