Thermochemistry of some barium compounds
Journal of Chemical Thermodynamics, 2002Abstract The molar enthalpies of reaction of metallic barium with 0.047 mol·dm−3 HClO4 as well as the molar enthalpies of dissolution of BaCl2 in 1.01 mol·dm−3 HCl and in water have been measured at T=298.15 K in a sealed swinging calorimeter with an isothermal jacket.

Selective Propargylation of Azo Compounds with Barium Reagents
Synlett, 2010A Barbier-type propargylation of azo compounds with γ-trialkylsilylated propargylic bromides has been achieved using reactive barium as a low-valent metal in THF. Corresponding propargylated hydrazines (α-adducts) were exclusively formed not only from azobenzenes (diaryldiazenes) but also from dialkyl azodicarboxylates.

Selective Propargylation of Carbonyl Compounds and Imines with Barium Reagents
Chemistry - an Asian Journal, 2008AbstractA Barbier‐type regioselective propargylation of aldehydes and ketones with (3‐bromobut‐1‐ynyl)trimethylsilane has been achieved using reactive barium as a low‐valent metal in THF. Especially in the case of ketones, the corresponding homopropargylic alcohols form almost exclusively. In the reaction of α,β‐unsaturated carbonyl compounds, only 1,2‐

Stable barium compounds in YBa2Cu3Oy superconductors
Physica C: Superconductivity and its Applications, 2011Abstract The stability of various amounts of Ba3Cu3In4O12 (334) or BaTbO3 (BTO) in a sintered YBa2Cu3Oy (YBCO) matrix was examined. Samples with added 334 or BTO exhibited critical temperatures (Tc) above 90 K for up to 20 vol.% addition and improved critical current densities (Jc) under a magnetic field.
