The synthesis of barium titanate

Crystals of barium titanate (BaTiO3), with linear dimensions up to ˜ 2 mm., have been produced from solutions in carbonates and chlorides, and (when pure) are hard, clear, pale yellow in colour, and of cubic external symmetry. We are greatly indebted to Prof. P. Scherrer, Zurich, for advice on methods of producing these crystals. The results of optical

Bandpass filtering in barium titanate
Applied Optics, 1988Real-time spatial filteirng is performed in BaTiO(3) using two different holographic geometries. In both geometries white light images of moderate intensity are used to filter selected portions of Fourier transform holograms written in the crystal. The result is a suppression of certain spatial frequencies in the reconstructed images.

Semiconducting properties of barium titanate and iron substituted barium titanate
Materials Research Bulletin, 1977Abstract Single crystals of barium titanate and members of the series BaTi 1−x Fe x O 3−x F x have been grown from a potassium fluoride flux. These crystals were made conductive by heating in a sealed evacuated silica tube in the presence of freshly ground titanium.

Nanostructured barium titanate ceramics
Powder Technology, 2004Dense nanocrystalline ceramics can be obtained starting from non-agglomerated nanopowders and using low-temperature sintering processes. The preparation and the properties of Barium Titanate (BaTiO3) ceramics and thick films are reported: ceramics were prepared by Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) at 800 °C of nanopowders produced by a wet chemical process,

Curie Point of Barium Titanate
Nature, 1947The Curie point, that is, the transition temperature between the ferro-electric and the non-ferro-electric structures of barium metatitanate, BaTiO3, is characterized by a marked peak in the permittivity v. temperature curve and has recently received much attention, though reported values1–4 for the temperatures of maximum permittivity show in some ...

Sputtered barium titanate and barium strontium titanate films for capacitor applications
ISAF 2000. Proceedings of the 2000 12th IEEE International Symposium on Applications of Ferroelectrics (IEEE Cat. No.00CH37076), 2002Thin barium titanate and barium strontium titanate films are being developed as dielectric film for use in dc-dc converters. Thin BaTiO/sub 3/ (BT) and (BaSr)TiO/sub 3/ (BST) film capacitor devices were fabricated using RF magnetron sputtering techniques. The typical dielectric constant of these film capacitors was in the range of 300 to 690.
