Mechanisms based on chaotic flows that support structures in barred-spiral systems
I summarize the dynamical mechanisms that have been found to shape structures such as the spirals and the bars in barred-spiral systems. Response models and orbital analysis are used to study the dynamics in potentials estimated from near-infrared images

CO Multi-line Imaging of Nearby Galaxies (COMING): I. Physical properties of molecular gas in the barred spiral galaxy NGC 2903 [PDF]
We present simultaneous mappings of J=1-0 emission of 12CO, 13CO, and C18O molecules toward the whole disk (8' x 5' or 20.8 kpc x 13.0 kpc) of the nearby barred spiral galaxy NGC 2903 with the Nobeyama Radio Observatory 45-m telescope at an effective ...

Large-scale bars can fuel galaxy centers with molecular gas, often leading to the development of dense ringlike structures where intense star formation occurs, forming a very different environment compared to galactic disks.

Molecular Bars in Spiral Galaxies [PDF]
Images of molecular gas in spiral galaxies show two types of bar structure: large-scale bars, which are correlated with the presence of stellar bars, and generally follow the spiral structure, and nuclear “bars” of a few hundred parsecs in size, which show no direct correlation with the presence of a stellar bar.

Infrared Emission from Barred Spiral Galaxies [PDF]
AbstractAmongst relatively undisturbed spiral galaxies of type ≤ Sc barred morphology is unquestionably associated with powerful mid- and Far-IR emission. On the other hand, even amongst early type galaxies, those with LFIR/LB < 1/3 exhibit no association of high relative FIR luminosity with barred morphology, but some association of IR colors ...

The connection between star formation and metallicity evolution in barred spiral galaxies [PDF]
We have performed a series of chemodynamical simulations of barred disc galaxies. Our goal is to determine the physical processes responsible for the increase in the central gas-phase metallicity and of the central SFR observed in SDSS.

Dawes Review 4: Spiral Structures in Disc Galaxies [PDF]
The majority of astrophysics involves the study of spiral galaxies, and stars and planets within them, but how spiral arms in galaxies form and evolve is still a fundamental problem. Major progress in this field was made primarily in the 1960s, and early

CO OBSERVATIONS OF BARRED SPIRAL GALAXIES [PDF]
We present the results of a highly sensitive ( mK rms) survey toward the central parts of 22 barred spiral galaxies in line using the NRAO 12m telescope at Kitt Peak. Seven of the target galaxies were detected in CO; NGC 3686 has been detected with CO for the first time. We estimated central CO fluxes of and molecular gas masses of for those galaxies.

Bar-driven Transport of Molecular Gas to Galactic Centers and Its Consequences [PDF]
We study the characteristics of molecular gas in the central regions of spiral galaxies on the basis of our CO(J=1-0) imaging survey of 20 nearby spiral galaxies using the NRO and OVRO millimeter arrays. Condensations of molecular gas at galactic centers
