Comparison of bacterial microbiota of the predatory mite Neoseiulus cucumeris (Acari: Phytoseiidae) and its factitious prey Tyrophagus putrescentiae (Acari: Acaridae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Neoseiulus cucumeris is a predatory mite used for biological control of arthropod pests. Mass-reared predators are fed with factitious prey mites such as Tyrophagus putrescentiae. Although some information on certain endosymbionts of N.

Resolution of pancytopenia in a dog infected with Bartonella rochalimae in association with antibiotic therapy

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 4, December 2025.
Abstract Fever, non‐regenerative anaemia and leukopenia were documented in a 7‐year‐old, entire, male Akita Inu dog. The serum biochemistry and urinalysis were unremarkable. Tests for infectious agents were negative, except for SNAP 4Dx seropositive for Anaplasma phagocytophilum or A. platys. PCR for Anaplasma spp. was negative.

Factors affecting the component community structure of haemoparasites in bank voles (Clethrionomys glareolus) from the Mazury Lake District region of Poland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The prevalence and abundance of infections with haemoparasites were studied over a 3 year period in Clethrionomys glareolus (bank vole, n=420) sampled from forests in the NE of Poland. Total species richness was 5 (Prevalence=Haemobartonella sp.

A bacterial toxin-antitoxin module is the origin of inter-bacterial and inter-kingdom effectors of Bartonella. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Host-targeting type IV secretion systems (T4SS) evolved from conjugative T4SS machineries that mediate interbacterial plasmid transfer. However, the origins of effectors secreted by these virulence devices have remained largely elusive.
