Isolation of L Forms of Bartonella bacilliformis

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1968
SummaryThree strains of Bartonella bacilliformis were induced to transform to the L form by cultivation on solid medium containing penicillin, 1,000 U/ml. The L colonies were successfully subcultured from each of the three strains. The bacterial form of one strain was recovered after five serial subcultures of the L form.
