Multiplier sequences for generalized Laguerre bases

open access: yesRocky Mountain Journal of Mathematics, 2013
In this paper we present a complete characterization of geometric and linear multiplier sequences for generalized Laguerre bases. In addition, we give a partial characterization of the generic multiplier sequence for such bases, and pose some open questions regarding polynomial type multiplier sequences.

Unlocking the potential of tumor‐derived DNA in urine for cancer detection: methodological challenges and opportunities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urine is a rich source of biomarkers for cancer detection. Tumor‐derived material is released into the bloodstream and transported to the urine. Urine can easily be collected from individuals, allowing non‐invasive cancer detection. This review discusses the rationale behind urine‐based cancer detection and its potential for cancer diagnostics ...

Optimal Retrofit of Natural Gas Liquids Separation Direct Sequence and Feed Condition Sensitivity Analysis

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2017
The objective of this paper is to present the retrofitting analysis for the direct sequence natural gas liquids (NGLs) separation process and to analyse the process sensitivity with respect to feed conditions.

Subpar reporting of pre‐analytical variables in RNA‐focused blood plasma studies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical variables strongly influence the analysis of extracellular RNA (cell‐free RNA; exRNA) derived from blood plasma. Their reporting is essential to allow interpretation and replication of results. By evaluating 200 exRNA studies, we pinpoint a lack of reporting pre‐analytical variables associated with blood collection, plasma preparation ...

The energy-spectrum of bicompatible sequences [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Background: Genotype-phenotype maps provide a meaningful filtration of sequence space and RNA secondary structures are particular such phenotypes. Compatible sequences i.e.~sequences that satisfy the base pairing constraints of a given RNA structure play an important role in the context of neutral networks and inverse folding.

Nanopore-Based Target Sequence Detection

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2016
The promise of portable diagnostic devices relies on three basic requirements: comparable sensitivity to established platforms, inexpensive manufacturing and cost of operations, and the ability to survive rugged field conditions. Solid state nanopores can meet all these requirements, but to achieve high manufacturing yields at low costs, assays must be

Identification of functional and diverse circulating cancer‐associated fibroblasts in metastatic castration‐naïve prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) promote cancer growth, invasion (metastasis), and drug resistance. Here, we identified functional and diverse circulating CAFs (cCAFs) in patients with metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa). cCAFs were found in higher numbers and were functional and diverse in mPCa patients versus healthy individuals, suggesting their ...

A note on symmetries of rich sequences with minimum critical exponent [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Using three examples of sequences over a finite alphabet, we want to draw attention to the fact that these sequences having the minimum critical exponent in a given class of sequences show a large degree of symmetry, i.e., they are G-rich with respect to a group G generated by more than one antimorphism.
