Bases of topological epi-reflections

open access: yesTopology and its Applications, 1980
AbstractIn the first part of this paper a characterization of epi-reflective subcategories of the category TOP of topological spaces in terms of initial topologies is given. This characterization enables us to associate to each epi-reflective subcategory of TOP, regular systems of cogenerators.

Simultaneous Material and Topology Optimization Based on Topological Derivatives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We use an asymptotic expansion of the compliance cost functional in linear elasticity to find the optimal material inside elliptic inclusions. We extend the proposed method to material optimization on the whole domain and compare the global quality of the solutions for different inclusion sizes.

Detecting Communities Based on Network Topology [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2014
AbstractNetwork methods have had profound influence in many domains and disciplines in the past decade. Community structure is a very important property of complex networks, but the accurate definition of a community remains an open problem. Here we defined community based on three properties and then propose a simple and novel framework to detect ...

Topology optimization for elastic base under rectangular plate subjected to moving load

open access: yesArchives of Control Sciences, 2015
Distribution optimization of elastic material under elastic isotropic rectangular thin plate subjected to concentrated moving load is investigated in the present paper. The aim of optimization is to damp its vibrations in finite (fixed) time.

Photosynthesis under far‐red light—evolutionary adaptations and bioengineering of light‐harvesting complexes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phototrophs evolved light‐harvesting systems adapted for efficient photon capture in habitats enriched in far‐red radiation. A subset of eukaryotic pigment‐binding proteins can absorb far‐red photons via low‐energy chlorophyll states known as red forms.

Orderability and continuous selections for Wijsman and Vietoris hyperspaces

open access: yesApplied General Topology, 2003
Bertacchi and Costantini obtained some conditions equivalent to the existence of continuous selections for the Wijsman hyperspace of ultrametric Polish spaces. We introduce a new class of hypertopologies, the macro-topologies.

Adaptive Protection Method of Distribution Networks Using the Sensitivity Analysis for Changed Network Topologies Based on Base Network Topology

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
This paper proposes an adaptive protection method using sensitivity analysis that examines the effect of changed network topologies (CNTs) on the operation time of protective devices (PDs) for a base network topology (BNT) in a distribution network.

LexToMap: lexical-based topological mapping [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics, 2016
Any robot should be provided with a proper representation of its environment in order to perform navigation and other tasks. In addition to metrical approaches, topological mapping generates graph representations in which nodes and edges correspond to locations and transitions.

The anti‐CRISPR protein AcrIE8.1 inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system by directly binding to the Cascade subunit Cas11

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.
