Accurate interpretation requires oxygen‐contextualised measurement (live biosensors, chemical probes, EPR, LC–MS) and awareness of artefacts (reoxygenation, probe specificity).

The next generation matrix approach to deriving and calculating the basic reproduction number of a plant virus epidemic is described.
