Endocrine, Physiological and Histopathological Responses of Fish and their Larvae to Stress with Emphasis on Exposure to Crude Oil and Various Petroleum Hydrocarbons

open access: yesSultan Qaboos University Journal for Science, 2000
Various endocrine and physiological responses of fish exposed to forceful physical and chemical stimuli are reviewed with emphasis on the effects of crude oils and their hydrocarbon constituents.

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

Ghost Crabs of Oman ( Crustacea : Brachyura :Ocypodidae)

open access: yesSultan Qaboos University Journal for Science, 1996
The sandy beaches of the coasts of Oman support five species of Ocypode ghost crabs.  Ocypode cordimanus is found on supra-littoral sand dunes while O. saratan O. rotundata, and O. platytarsis  occur on the open beaches. O.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Recurrence Relations for the Equilibrium Means of Distributions Arising in Chemical Reactions

open access: yesSultan Qaboos University Journal for Science, 1997
In this paper we derive recurrence relations that describe how the equilibrium mean of the number molecules of a reactant varies with each of the parameters defining the initial state for four basic reversible chemical reactions.

Clinical Correlations as a Tool in Basic Science Medical Education

open access: yes, 2016
Clinical correlations are tools to assist students in associating basic science concepts with a medical application or disease. There are many forms of clinical correlations and many ways to use them in the classroom.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Filter Representation of Normal Lattice

open access: yesSultan Qaboos University Journal for Science, 1996
In this paper we will investigate the properties of normality lattices and their relationships to zero-one measures. We will establish necessary and sufficient conditions for lattices to be normal.
