Species diversity of Basidiomycota

open access: yesFungal Diversity, 2022
Fungi are eukaryotes that play essential roles in ecosystems. Among fungi, Basidiomycota is one of the major phyla with more than 40,000 described species. We review species diversity of Basidiomycota from five groups with different lifestyles or habitats: saprobic in grass/forest litter, wood-decaying, yeast-like, ectomycorrhizal, and plant parasitic.

Comparison of mitochondrial genomes from multi-, Bi-, and uninucleate Rhizoctonia

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2021
Six circular mitochondrial genomes of multi-, bi-, and uninucleate Rhizoctonia isolates were assembled and found that all the genomes contain 14 conserved protein-coding genes, one ribosomal protein (rps3), and 23 tRNA in the same order.

Converting tropical rainforest to native rubber plantations alters soil bacterial and fungal communities

open access: yesCircular Agricultural Systems, 2022
Driven by soil biochemistry and plant community composition, soil microbial communities reflect land management and environmental conditions. To evaluate the effects of land-use change on soil microbial diversity, we used denaturing gradient gel ...

New Insights into Lichenization in Agaricomycetes Based on an Unusual New Basidiolichen Species of Omphalina s. str.

open access: yesJournal of Fungi, 2022
The genus Omphalina is an ideal genus for studying the evolutionary mechanism of lichenization. Based on molecular phylogeny using ITS and nuLSU sequences by means of Bayesian and maximum likelihood analyses and morphological examination, combining the ...

Global ecological predictors of the soil priming effect. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Identifying the global drivers of soil priming is essential to understanding C cycling in terrestrial ecosystems. We conducted a survey of soils across 86 globally-distributed locations, spanning a wide range of climates, biotic communities, and soil ...

The Checklist of Sicilian Macrofungi: Second Edition

open access: yesJournal of Fungi, 2022
Approximately 30 years after the publication of the first Sicilian checklist of macrofungi, a new updated version is presented here. The census of macromycetes was carried out through periodic observations in different agricultural and forest ecosystems,

Fungal Traits Important for Soil Aggregation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Soil structure, the complex arrangement of soil into aggregates and pore spaces, is a key feature of soils and soil biota. Among them, filamentous saprobic fungi have well-documented effects on soil aggregation. However, it is unclear what properties, or
