Hole photoproduction in insulating copper oxide

open access: yes, 1996
Basing on t-J model we calculate the k-dependence of a single hole photoproduction probability for CuO2 plane at zero doping. We also discuss the radiation of spin-waves which can substantially deform the shape of photoemission spectra.Comment: latex 8 ...

Protonophore activity of short‐chain fatty acids induces their intracellular accumulation and acidification

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The protonated form of butyrate, as well as other short‐chain fatty acids (SCFAs), is membrane permeable. In acidic extracellular environments, this can lead to intracellular accumulation of SCFAs and cytosolic acidification. This phenomenon will be particularly relevant in acidic environments such as the large intestine or tumor microenvironments ...

Stochastic perturbations method for a system of Riemann invariants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Basing on our results [1] on a representation of solutions to the Cauchy problem for multidimensional non-viscous Burgers equation obtained by a method of stochastic perturbation of the associated Langevin system, we deduce an explicit asymptotic formula

Evidence based and guideline based medicine [PDF]

open access: yesEmergency Medicine Journal, 2000
Editor,—Evidence based and guideline based medicine is justifiably emphasised in current accident and emergency (A&E) medicine practice. At St James's University Hospital in Leeds, the A&E trainees participate in regular evidence based critical appraisal sessions as part of education development, and such skills are assessed in our Faculty of Accident ...

A stepwise emergence of evolution in the RNA world

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
How did biological evolution emerge from chemical reactions? This perspective proposes a gradual scenario of self‐organization among RNA molecules, where catalytic feedback on random mixtures plays the central role. Short oligomers cross‐ligate, and self‐assembly enables heritable variations. An event of template‐externalization marks the transition to

The application of Artificial Neural Network for the assessment of thermal properties of multi-layer semiconductor structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper, the solution of the problem of identification of thermal properties of investigated multi-layer structure is presented. In order of that, artificial neural network was used to find the set of thermal properties for which the complex ...

Inconsistency-based Ranking of Knowledge Bases

open access: yesProceedings of the International Conference on Agents and Artificial Intelligence, 2015
Inconsistencies are a usually undesirable feature of many kinds of data and knowledge. Measuring inconsistency is potentially useful to determine which parts of the data or of the knowledge base are conflicting. Several measures have been proposed to quantify such inconsistencies.

Modifications in FLAP's second cytosolic loop influence 5‐LOX interaction, inhibitor binding, and leukotriene formation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The enzyme 5‐lipoxygenase (5‐LOX) catalyzes the first step in the biosynthesis of leukotrienes (LTs) involved in inflammatory pathophysiology. After cellular stimulation, 5‐LOX translocates to the nucleus, interacting with the 5‐LOX‐activating protein (FLAP) to form LTA4 from arachidonic acid (AA).
