ABSTRACT Understanding whether the interaction between economic activity and forest ecosystems manifests as conflict or synergy is central to designing effective, sustainable development policies. Although the environmental Kuznets curve framework is frequently utilized to explain this relationship, its analytical scope remains limited, as it ...

ABSTRACT Environmental pollution resulting from the rapid increase in human population, urbanization, intensive use of chemicals in agriculture, and industrial development has reached a level that threatens natural life today. Trace elements are one of the most important factors causing significant levels of pollution in the environment and are added ...

A Newton algorithm for invariant subspace computation with large basins of attraction
We study the global behaviour of a Newton algorithm on the Grassmann manifold for invariant subspace computation. It is shown that the basins of attraction of the invariant subspaces may collapse in case of small eigenvalue gaps.

Remarks on the Numerical Analysis of Basins of Attraction using Complex Variables
We investigate the behavior of basins of attraction and the nonlin- ear dynamics of an oscillator described in complex variables. To do this, we analyze the basin entropy and the uncertainty coefficient, establishing whether the attraction basins have ...

Spatiotemporal mapping the usable space of free‐roaming equids across the western United States
Identification of the inter‐decadal (2010‐2011) enhancement‐degradation gradients in the usable space for wild equid Herd Management Areas in the Great Basin, USA. Abstract Management of feral equids in the American West is hindered by the lack of a formal habitat map and monitoring system.

We placed 214 avian carcasses in a desert environment at locations not associated with infrastructure and monitored their removal by scavengers using camera traps. We found that 211 of the 214 carcasses were scavenged and median persistence time was 1.53 days. None of the predictor variables were informative of carcass persistence times.

High‐Pressure Synthesis and Chemical Bonding of Mg3BiN
The anti‐perovskite Mg3BiN is obtained by high‐pressure high‐temperature reaction of Mg–Bi mixture with boron nitride serving as crucible material. The compound is electron precise with essentially ionic bonding, and DOS calculations indicate semiconducting behavior.
