Simple 3D spheroid cell culture model for studies of prion infection
European Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 60, Issue 4, Page 4437-4452, August 2024.Gentle rocking of CAD 5 cells suspension leads to spontaneous formation of 3D spheroids, which could be cultured up to 12 weeks and infected by prions. The presence of pathological prion protein PrPTSE in the infected spheroids was confirmed by Immunohistochemistry (red arrows), western blot and by seed amplification assay.
