Batch Auction Design for Cloud Container Services
Mobile Networks and Applications, 2020Cloud containers represent a new, light-weight alternative to virtual machines in cloud computing. A user job may be described by a container graph that specifies the resource profile of each container and container dependence relations. This work is the first in the cloud computing literature that designs efficient market mechanisms for container ...

OPTIMAL CONTROL OF PARALLEL QUEUES WITH BATCH SERVICE
Probability in the Engineering and Informational Sciences, 2002We consider the problem of dynamic allocation of a single server with batch processing capability to a set of parallel queues. Jobs from different classes cannot be processed together in the same batch. The arrival processes are mutually independent Poisson flows with equal rates.

Study of Reneging Behavior in Batched Multimedia Service
IEEE International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications, 2006., 2006Several multimedia applications use basic technology as video-on-demand (VOD). In a VOD system, a number of concurrent video streams a server can support are limited by available server capacity. Several resource sharing techniques such as batching, patching and caching are employed for efficient use of server capacity.

Heuristic batching policies for video-on-demand services
Computer Communications, 1999A video-on-demand (VOD) service imposes extremely severe resource requirement in terms of bandwidth and storage. Batching policies that use a single channel to serve multiple active clients for the same video program can reduce system resource requirement effectively, especially during high load periods.

Batch Invocation of Web Services in BPEL Process
2008This paper presents our approach for optimizing the execution of BPEL (Business Process Execution Language) process by leveraging the features of enterprise intranet and introduces batBPEL , a tool for batch invocations of web services in BPEL process.

Waiting time distributions in buffers with batch service
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1993A buffer where customers arrive according to a Poissonian stream and are removed in batches at equidistant points of time is considered. The waiting time distribution for this system is derived under two different queuing disciplines: first in, first-out (FIFO) and last-in, first-out (LIFO). The buffer space may be finite or infinite.

A General Batch-Calibration Framework of Service Robots
2017Calibration is important to service robot, but the process of calibration is time consuming and laborious. With the popularity of service robot, an automatic and universal calibration system is urgent to be developed, therefore we propose a general batch-calibration framework, Motion Capture System is adopt as an external measurement device in virtual ...

Classifications for batch service queues in production systems
2014 IEEE International Conference on Automation Science and Engineering (CASE), 2014Batching plays an important role in performance evaluation of practical manufacturing systems. In practice, two main types of batching are commonly seen: transfer batches and process batches, where process batches can be further classified as serial batches and parallel batches.

Decomposition of Open Queueing Networks with Batch Service
2017The decomposition method for non-product form networks with non-exponentially distributed interarrival and service times assumes that nodes within the network can be treated being stochastically independent and internal flows can be approximated by renewal processes.
