Seismic characteristics of sediment drifts: An example from the Agulhas Plateau, southwest Indian Ocean [PDF]
Sediment drifts provide information on the palaeoceanographic development of a region. Additionally, they may represent hydrocarbon reservoirs. Because of this, sediment drift investigation has increased over the last few years. Nevertheless, a number of

Abstract Passive acoustic monitoring (PAM) has been used to estimate the presence and spatial distribution of target organisms using biological sounds received by microphones. Due to its cost‐effectiveness and non‐invasiveness, PAM is becoming a promising approach for studying the spatiotemporal dynamics of large groups in response to environmental ...

This study examines the distribution and morphology of lakes under the Laurentide Ice Sheet (LIS) to investigate relationships with ice flow velocity, bedrock and basal thermal regime. Palaeo‐ice streams and lobes were important components of the LIS, and properties of lakes in those regions are quantified at high resolution.

Bathymetric effects and corrections in marine CSEM data [PDF]
The effect of seafloor topographic variations on controlled-source electromagnetic (CSEM) responses is investigated using a finite-difference modeling approach for both petroleum and gas-hydrate exploration scenarios. In a deepwater reservoir model, distortions in the inline electric field responses are mainly due to galvanic effects, particularly at ...

Bathymetric and tectonics of Indian Ocean using MAGSAT data [PDF]
The quality of the MAGSAT data was assessed, especially the characterization of spikes. The spectral passbands of significance to geophysical analysis were analyzed, including computations of spectral coherence between nearby repeating satellite tracks ...

Assessing Bottom Gear Impact in the WGOM Closure Area: A Multifaceted Approach [PDF]
Mashkoor Malik presented the results of a UNH Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping (CCOM) study of the seafloor of the WGOMCA. Objectives The objectives for the CCOM study were to: • Construct a bathymetric map of Jeffrey’s Ledge to serve as a framework ...

An assessment of bottom current controlled sedimentation in Pacific Ocean abyssal environments [PDF]
The effect of the circulation of polar-sourced dense waters on the deep seafloor is still largely unknown. This paper presents multibeam bathymetric evidence for the existence of present-day contourite drifts on the central Pacific ocean at depths ...

This review presents an investigation of the evolution of the Baltic Sea basin and its connections through the Eemian Stage, based upon sequences of marine and associated deposits from the White Sea to the Southwest Baltic, via the Karelian channel. Pollen analyses, foraminiferal and ostracod analyses provide the evolution of relative sea‐level change,

Comparative Analysis of Wavelet-Based Anisotropy Index Calculation for Bathymetric Data
This study investigates the relationship between seabed structures and ship manoeuvrability by applying an anisotropic transformation to bathymetric data. The one of the selected study areas is the downstream section of the Mississippi River in Chalmette,
