Clustering Bathymetric Data for Electronic Navigational Charts

Journal of Navigation, 2016
An electronic navigational chart is a major source of information for the navigator. The component that contributes most significantly to the safety of navigation on water is the information on the depth of an area. For the purposes of this article, the authors use data obtained by the interferometric sonar GeoSwath Plus. The data were collected in the

The national geophysical data center bathymetric program

Marine Geodesy, 1992
Abstract The National Geophysical Data Center's (NGDC's) mission is data management in the broadest sense, playing a role in the nation's research into the environment and providing data to a wide group of users. NGDC also operates components of the International Council of Scientific Unions (ICSU) World Data Center A. The Marine Geology and Geophysics

A new algorithm for automatic processing of bathymetric data

IEEE Journal of Oceanic Engineering, 2003
A sea-floor map can be obtained from sonar data using the supplied sonar system software or one of several public domain or proprietary systems. With any of these solutions, the process of production of a sea-floor map is unnecessarily time consuming in the absence of a systematic and efficient solution to the problem of identification of erroneous ...

Computation of Bed Load Using Bathymetric Data

Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1980
A method of calculating bed-load transport is presented. This method takes advantage of the rapid bathymetric surveys that can be made in large rivers. The proposed equation is based on sediment continuity and an assumption for the base level of zero transport.

Computer contouring of deep sea bathymetric data

Marine Geology, 1969
Abstract A computer program has been used to construct a contour map of the crest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge between 22° and 23°N. The computer map is produced more efficiently than a manually contoured chart and yields an acceptable representation of sea-floor topography free of interpretive bias.

Coastal Bathymetric and Charting Digital Data Base

Offshore Technology Conference, 1978
ABSTRACT Bathymetric and bottom data are a primary tool of marine commerce, industry, and research. Traditionally, these data have been shown on nautical and bathymetric charts produced by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) National Ocean Survey (NOS).

Derivative Based Bathymetric Algorithms for Hyperspectral Data

1999
Abstract : LONG-TERM GOALS. Our long-term goal is the development of spectral analysis tools that fully exploit the information content in hyperspectral image data, particularly as it applies to passive, remote sensing derived bathymetry. OBJECTIVES. The objective of this work was to develop an effective method for extracting bathymetric information ...
