Disc battery ingestion in paediatric age
Acta Paediatrica, 2022AbstractAimThe aim of the present study was to analyse clinical data of children referred for disc battery ingestion in order to assess short‐ and long‐term reported injuries and to identify outcome predictors and trends, define the urgency of intervention and refine treatment guidelines.MethodsThe records of all children admitted to Santobono ...

The exponential growth of stationary energy storage systems (ESSs) and electric vehicles (EVs) necessitates a more profound understanding of the degradation behavior of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), with specific emphasis on their lifetime. Accurately forecasting the lifetime of batteries under various working stresses aids in optimizing their ...

Versatile Battery Chargers for New Age Batteries
2011 International Symposium on Electronic System Design, 2011This paper proposes two designs for a versatile charger capable of charging a range of batteries ranging from the conventional Li ion and Ni-Cd batteries to the more recent thin film batteries. The charger is equipped with a low power micro controller which enables the user to specify the kind of battery to be charged as well as calibrate the current ...

Understanding Battery Aging Mechanisms
2019The aging mechanisms of Li-ion batteries are introduced in this chapter, and are experimentally investigated and modeled. From SEM it is found that the thickness of the solid electrolyte interface layers at the graphite electrode surface increase upon aging. Deformation of the graphite structure is confirmed by Raman spectroscopy.

Battery Aging, Battery Charging and the Kinetic Battery Model: A First Exploration
2017Rechargeable batteries are omnipresent and will be used more and more, for instance for wearables devices, electric vehicles or domestic energy storage. However, batteries can deliver power only for a limited time span. They slowly degrade with every charge-discharge cycle. This degradation needs to be taken into account when considering the battery in
