Current-Pumped Battery Charger

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2008
A novel current-pumped battery charger (CPBC) is proposed in this paper to increase the Li-ion battery charging performance. A complete charging process, consisting of three subprocesses, namely: 1) the bulk current charging process; 2) the pulsed current charging process; and 3) the pulsed float charging process, can be automatically implemented by ...

Integrated Battery Chargers

2022
Integrated battery chargers (IBCs) have been proposed as a low-weight, low-volume, and high-power solution to conventional conductive chargers. However, the design of such chargers is complicated, requiring special components or control techniques to solve inherent issues (such as galvanic isolation, torque generation, and system reconfiguration ...

Versatile Battery Chargers for New Age Batteries

2011 International Symposium on Electronic System Design, 2011
This paper proposes two designs for a versatile charger capable of charging a range of batteries ranging from the conventional Li ion and Ni-Cd batteries to the more recent thin film batteries. The charger is equipped with a low power micro controller which enables the user to specify the kind of battery to be charged as well as calibrate the current ...

Solar Battery Chargers for NiMH Batteries

IEEE 36th Conference on Power Electronics Specialists, 2005., 2006
This paper proposes new solar battery chargers for NiMH batteries. First, it is shown that existing charge-control methods can fail when charging by solar arrays in changing environmental conditions. This article discusses the reasons for the failure and introduces new voltage and temperature-based charge- control techniques.

Battery charger for a photovoltaic power source

2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE), 2013
Design procedure of a dc-dc step down converter is presented by means of computer simulations. An input voltage from the photovoltaic module is fed into the converter and regulated to a 13.65 volt voltage source. A feedback controller is introduced to meet the design specifications of 60° phase margin at 8kHz unit gain frequency.

The Doubler of Electricity Used as Battery Charger

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II: Express Briefs, 2011
This brief describes several ways in which a variation of the electrostatic generator known as “doubler of electricity” or “Bennet's doubler” can be used as a practical micropower generator and a battery charger. The device has a structure that can be constructed as a microelectromechanical system device powered by ambient vibration.
