Study of Bauschinger Effect by Reverse Shearing of 70:30 Brass
Reverse shear experiments were conducted on a low stacking fault energy (SFE) material, namely 70:30 brass, and for comparison a high SFE material, namely commercial pure aluminum 1100, was chosen.

Study of the dynamic Bauschinger effect in Ti6Al4V by torsion experiments
The materials kinematic hardening behaviour and Bauschinger effect is indispensible to describe complex deformation processes involving strain path changes.

Bauschinger effect in uranium. [Rarefaction waves] [PDF]
The Bauschinger effect (different elastic-plastic behavior upon unloading) was measured in uranium and a model of the effect developed for use in one-dimensional hydrodynamic codes. Results from plate-impact tests show that rarefaction waves in uranium can be calculated more accurately with this model.

The bauschinger effect in a SiC/Al composite [PDF]
An interesting mechanical property of SiC/Al composites is that the tensile yield stress is less than the compressive yield stress, even though the apparent modulus in tension is greater than that in compression. An investigation was undertaken to determine if the Bauschinger effect (BE) in a SiC/Al composite is asymmetrical.

Origin of the Bauschinger Effect in Amorphous Solids [PDF]
We study the structural origin of the Bauschinger effect by accessing numerically the local plastic thresholds in the steady state flow of a two-dimensional model glass under athermal quasistatic deformation. More specifically, we compute the local residual strength, $Δτ^{c}$, for arbitrary loading orientations and find that plastic deformation ...

Thermodynamic dislocation theory: Bauschinger effect [PDF]
The thermodynamic dislocation theory developed for non-uniform plastic deformations is used here to simulate the stress-strain curves for crystals subjected to anti-plane shear-controlled load reversal. We show that the presence of the positive back stress during the load reversal reduces the magnitude of shear stress required to pull excess ...

Shear Banding in Binary Cu-Zr Metallic Glass: Comparison of the G-Phase With L-Phase
We identified two glass phases formed in three undercooled liquids of elemental Ag, binary Cu-Ag, and binary Cu-Zr alloys using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations: 1) The homogeneous L-phase arises from quenching quickly from high temperature liquid. 2)

Strength Assessment of Rectangular Plates Subjected to Extreme Cyclic Load Reversals
The objective of this study is to investigate the strength of the rectangular plates subjected to cyclic load reversals with varying strain ranges. The finite element solution is implemented to estimate the load-carrying capacity.
