Lattice strain measurements using synchrotron diffraction to calibrate a micromechanical modeling in a ferrite–cementite steel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In situ tensile tests were performed at room temperature on a ferrite–cementite steel specifically designed for this study. The evolution of the average stress in ferrite during loading was analyzed by X-ray diffraction.Lattice strain measurements were ...

Technology and equipment of roll straightening of sheet metal

open access: yesЛитьë и металлургия, 2023
The features of the editing technology, possible defects of sheet metal and piece blanks of complex configuration are presented. The main schemes and designs of sheet‑straightening machines are considered, as well as the main directions of improvement of

BAUSCHINGER EFFECT DURING SHOCK LOADING [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Parallel shock recovery and wave profile experiments have been performed that exhibit a Bauschinger effect in Si-bronze shocked to 10 GPa. The unloading wave profile in Si-bronze exhibited a quasi- elastic release that had greater departure from the ideal elastic- plastic response than the pure copper samples.

The influence of material anisotropy and spiral welding on tensile strain capacity of spiral welded pipes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The longitudinal strain capacity of spiral welded pipelines displays to some extents unexplained behaviour. Therefore, they are not (yet) used extensively in offshore applications and harsh conditions, demanding a strain based design. An important factor

Change of the yield stress in roll formed ERW pipes considering the Bauschinger effect [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
ERW pipes formed with the roll forming process show a yield stress distribution along the circumferential direction and their quality is strongly influenced by the magnitude and by the distributions of the yield stress.

Quantification and localization of the liquid zone of partially remelted M2 tool steel using X-ray microtomography and scanning electron microscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The authors warmly thank Luc Morhain and Marc Wary (Arts et Métiers ParisTech CER Metz) for their technical support.Thixoforming of steels poses challenges due to the high temperatures involved and the lack of understanding of thermomechanical behavior ...

Investigation of Bauschinger effect in thermo-plastic polymers for biodegradable stents

open access: yesCurrent Directions in Biomedical Engineering, 2017
The Bauschinger effect is a phenomenon metals show as a result of plastic deformation. After a primary plastic deformation the yield strength in the opposite loading direction decreases.

On the Bauschinger effect in supercoooled melts under shear: results from mode coupling theory and molecular dynamics simulations

open access: yes, 2012
We study the nonlinear rheology of a glass-forming binary mixture under the reversal of shear flow using molecular dynamics simulations and a schematic model of the mode-coupling theory of the glass transition (MCT).

Bauschinger effect in uranium. [Rarefaction waves] [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
The Bauschinger effect (different elastic-plastic behavior upon unloading) was measured in uranium and a model of the effect developed for use in one-dimensional hydrodynamic codes. Results from plate-impact tests show that rarefaction waves in uranium can be calculated more accurately with this model.

Multi‐level fatigue reliability assessment of reinforced concrete railway bridges

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper presents a multi‐level reliability framework for assessing the fatigue life of reinforced concrete (RC) railway trough bridges subjected to cyclic loading. The framework incorporates increasing levels of analytical complexity and real‐world data in four steps. First, an analytical model applies S–N curves and the Palmgren–Miner rule
