Bauxites are residually enriched rocks, mostly composed of Al-hydroxides (gibbsite, boehmite and diaspore), kaolinite, Fe-oxy-hydroxides and Ti-oxides, which form from intense lateritic weathering of aluminosilicate protoliths. Lateritic weathering and bauxite formation are generally favored by largely humid, tropical and subtropical climates. Bauxites

Opisuje se na popularan način boksit kao mineralna sirovina te njegova primjena, kao i primjena aluminija kao finalnog proizvoda, u svakodnevnom životu. Poglavlje o boksitu (kao i u slučaju ostalih mineralnih sirovina) sadrži nekoliko naslova - What it looks like, How we obtain it, Use of the product, Health impacts, Anecdotes, Actions in our daily ...

Is Jammu Bauxite a Reworked Basalt Derived Bauxite?
Journal of the Geological Society of India, 2005Abstract The sedimentary structures in the bauxite deposits of the Jammu area are suggestive of a reworked bauxite precursor. Trace elements and REE concentrations show that the precursor bauxite originated from the weathering of basalt.

Relations of bauxite and Kaolin in the Arkansas bauxite deposits
Economic Geology, 1946Investigation of the Arkansas bauxite deposits by the U. S. Geological Survey during the years 1942 to 1945 has brought out the fact that secondary kaolinization or silication of the bauxite is much more common than has been generally recognized. On the other hand no direct evidence was found of the development of bauxite from kaolin.
