Observation of Low Temperature Magneto-Mechanic Effects in Crystalline Resonant Phonon Cavities

open access: yes, 2019
We observe magnetic effects in ultra-high quality factor crystalline quartz Bulk Acoustic Wave resonators at milli-Kelvin temperature. The study reveals existence of hysteresis loops, jumps and memory effects of acoustical resonance frequencies.

SERS‐Based Nano‐ and Microsystems Toward Biomedical Applications

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This review provides a current overview of nano‐ and microscale SERS‐based devices, encompassing all aspects from material design to practical applications. We highlight controlled SERS‐active architectures, including patterned substrates, nanorods, microspheres, micromotors, and microneedles, as well as combinations of these microfluidic systems.

Nonuniversality in the pair contact process with diffusion

open access: yes, 2002
We study the static and dynamic behavior of the one dimensional pair contact process with diffusion. Several critical exponents are found to vary with the diffusion rate, while the order-parameter moment ratio m=\bar{rho^2} /\bar{rho}^2 grows ...

Peanut Component‐Specific IgE and IgG4 Are Modulated by Sublingual Immunotherapy and Are Associated With Remission in 1–4‐Year‐Old Children

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
This study presents a post hoc analysis of longitudinal changes in peanut component‐specific IgE and IgG4 in children aged 1–4 years undergoing peanut SLIT, aiming to uncover immune mechanisms and potential biomarkers of remission. Peanut SLIT reduced IgE and increased IgG4 responses to Ara h 1, Ara h 2, Ara h 3, and Ara h 6.

Comparative Evaluation of Mortality Risk Prediction Tools After Emergency Laparotomy

open access: yesANZ Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Accurate pre‐operative prediction of mortality after emergency laparotomy (EL) is essential as it may facilitate shared decision‐making. The aim of our study was to compare the prognostic accuracy of three risk prediction tools following EL. Methods This retrospective cohort study included all consecutive adult patients (≥ 18 years)

Universality Class of Two-Offspring Branching Annihilating Random Walks

open access: yes, 1995
We analyze a two-offspring Branching Annihilating Random Walk ($n=2$ BAW) model, with finite annihilation rate. The finite annihilation rate allows for a dynamical phase transition between a vacuum, absorbing state and a non-empty, active steady state ...

Extremely Low Loss Phonon-Trapping Cryogenic Acoustic Cavities for Future Physical Experiments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Low loss Bulk Acoustic Wave devices are considered from the point of view of the solid state approach as phonon-confining cavities. We demonstrate effective design of such acoustic cavities with phonon-trapping techniques exhibiting extremely high ...

Post‐Exposure Hepatitis B‐Treatment in Newborns: A Qualitative Study on Interprofessional Practices in Norway

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Children born to mothers with chronic Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection are at substantial risk of developing chronic HBV‐infection without appropriate perinatal post‐exposure treatment. This study aimed to explore midwives' and public health nurses' (PHNs) experiences with HBV‐post‐exposure treatment for infants and identify factors ...

A Bulk Acoustic Wave Strain Sensor for Near-Field Passive Wireless Sensing

open access: yesSensors, 2023
Near-field passive wireless sensors can realize non-contact strain measurement, so these sensors have extensive applications in structural health monitoring. However, these sensors suffer from low stability and short wireless sensing distance. This paper
