Applying Bayes linear methods to support reliability procurement decisions [PDF]
Bayesian methods are common in reliability and risk assessment, however, such methods often demand a large amount of specification and can be computationally intensive.

Abstract Autonomous vehicles are required to operate in an uncertain environment. Recent advances in computational intelligence techniques make it possible to understand driving scenes in various environments by using a semantic segmentation neural network, which assigns a class label to each pixel.

Trigonometric words ranking model for spam message classification
Abstract The significant increase in the volume of fake (spam) messages has led to an urgent need to develop and implement a robust anti‐spam method. Several of the current anti‐spam systems depend mainly on the word order of the message in determining the spam message, which results in the system's inability to predict the correct type of message when

OPTIMAL INFORMATION-PROCESSING AND BAYES' THEOREM [PDF]
An information-processing representation of statistical inference is formulated and utilized to derive an optimal information-processing rule. When particular input and output information measures and an information criterion functional are employed, the

Enter the reverend: introduction to and application of Bayes' theorem in clinical ophthalmology
Background: Ophthalmic practice utilizes numerous diagnostic tests, some of which are used to screen for disease. Interpretation of test results and many clinical management issues are actually problems in inverse probability that can be solved using ...

This perspective proposes a cohesive machine learning strategy to decode microplastic aging. It advocates for Federated Learning to dismantle global data silos and introduces the TRACE framework (TRansport, Aging, Corona, Ecotoxicity). By integrating physics‐informed modeling with causal discovery, this approach bridges the laboratory‐field gap to ...

In this work, we developed a phase‐stability predictor by combining machine learning and ab initio thermodynamics approaches, and identified the key factors determining the favorable phase for a given composition. Specifically, a lower TM ionic potential, higher Na content, and higher mixing entropy favor the O3 phase.

On Bayes' theorem and the inverse Bernoulli theorem
A recent assertion by S. M. Stigler that Thomas Bayes was perhaps anticipated in the discovery of the result that today bears his name is exposed to further scrutiny here.

Exact Bayes’ theorem based probabilistic data association for iterative MIMO detection and decoding [PDF]
In our previous work, it was shown that the conventional approximate Bayes' theorem based probabilistic data association (PDA) algorithms output "nominal APPs", which are unsuitable for the classic architecture of iterative detection and decoding (IDD ...
