Comparisons of the Performances of Estimators of a Bounded Normal Mean Under Squared-Error Loss

open access: yesRevstat Statistical Journal, 2009
This paper is concerned with the estimation under squared-error loss of a normal mean θ based on X ∼ N (θ, 1) when |θ| ≤ m for a known m > 0. Nine estimators are compared, namely the maximum likelihood estimator (mle), three dominators of the mle ...

Kernel Bayes' rule [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A nonparametric kernel-based method for realizing Bayes' rule is proposed, based on representations of probabilities in reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces. Probabilities are uniquely characterized by the mean of the canonical map to the RKHS.

Microfluidic Engineering of Chitosan‐Coated Nanoemulsions for Controlled Release and Stability in Space Pharmaceutics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Microfluidic engineering enables the fabrication of chitosan‐coated, melatonin‐loaded nanoemulsions with controlled release and enhanced physicochemical stability for space pharmaceutics. Interfacial biopolymer coating modulates droplet behavior under accelerated thermal stress and simulated microgravity.

Microfluidic Hydroporation Platform for Effective Allogeneic CAR‐T Cell Production and Subsequent Functional Cytotoxicity Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
The hydroporator platform employs controlled hydrodynamic deformation for efficient mRNA and CRISPR/Cas9 delivery into primary human T cells, enabling allogeneic CAR‐T cell manufacturing. It preserves cell functionality and drives potent gene editing, CAR expression, and tumor cytotoxicity, while feature‐based analysis links these functional outcomes ...

Empirical Bayes Conditional Density Estimation

open access: yesStatistica, 2015
The problem of nonparametric estimation of the conditional density of a response, given a vector of explanatory variables, is classical and of prominent importance in many prediction problems since the conditional density provides a more comprehensive description of the association between the response and the predictor than, for instance, does the ...

High Humidity Exacerbates Psoriasiform Skin Disease Relapse by Increasing Tissue‐Resident Memory T Cells via Altering Skin Microbiota

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We demonstrated that high humidity worsened psoriasis relapse in murine psoriasiform skin inflammation by increasing skin‐resident memory CD8+ cells via upregulating IL‐15Rα on keratinocytes. The increases in IL‐15Rα and memory CD8+ cells were attributed to S. nepalensis and its metabolite ADMA in skin exposed to high humidity.

Bayes Estimators of Exponential Parameters from a Censored Sample Using a Guessed Estimate

open access: yesData Science Journal, 2008
This paper provides the Bayes estimators of the failure rate and reliability function for a one-parameter, exponential distribution by utilizing a point guess estimate of the parameter.

Unraveling the Molecular Mechanisms Underlying Spontaneous Multipolar Mitosis Through CIN‐seq

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Multipolar mitosis, a hallmark of chromosomal instability (CIN), drives tumor heterogeneity but is challenging to study in live cells. Using CIN‐seq, a single‐cell multiomics method, we profiled rare CIN events and identified mechanisms associated with viable multipolar mitosis, including PTEN attenuation, Rho GTPase‐driven cytokinesis failure, and ...

Estimation of a closed population size of tadpoles in temporary pond

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology, 2017
The practice of capture-recapture to estimate the diversity is well known to many animal groups, however this practice in the larval phase of anuran amphibians is incipient.

Evaluation of the procedure 1A component of the 1980 US/Canada wheat and barley exploratory experiment [PDF]

open access: yes
Several techniques which use clusters generated by a new clustering algorithm, CLASSY, are proposed as alternatives to random sampling to obtain greater precision in crop proportion estimation: (1) Proportional Allocation/relative count estimator (PA/RCE)
