Immunogenicity induced by the use of alternative vaccine platforms to deal with vaccine shortages in a low- to middle-income country: Results of two randomized clinical trials

open access: yesThe Lancet Regional Health. Americas, 2022
Summary: Background: Shortages of component two of Sputnik V vaccine (rAd5) are delaying the possibility of achieving full immunisation. The immunogenic response associated with the use of alternative schemes to complete the scheme was not explored ...

Effectiveness of COVID‐19 Vaccination in Reducing Severity Among SARS‐CoV‐2 Infected Patients: A Prospective Study From Iraq

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) is a lethal global pandemic that originated in Wuhan, China at the end of 2019. As with other viral infectious diseases, the introduction of an effective vaccine is crucial for stopping the spread of the pandemic. In Iraq the COVID‐19 vaccination campaign started on March 2, 2021.

Pre‐Existing Th1 Immunity Outperforms Age in Predicting Antibody Responses to SARS‐CoV‐2 Inactivated Vaccines

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 6, 30 January 2026.
Challenging the focus on age, this study finds pre‐existing T helper 1 cells are the key biomarker for predicting antibody response to SARS‐CoV‐2 inactivated vaccines. In both mice and humans, high responders exhibited elevated baseline T helper 1 cells, which correlated with robust humoral immunity, offering crucial guidance for improving vaccine ...

Kinetics of IgA Subtypes and Cytokines in Respiratory Secretions Following Immunization With COVID‐19 Mucosal Vaccine

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 97, Issue 10, October 2025.
ABSTRACT The COVID‐19 pandemic highlights the need for mucosal vaccines inducing respiratory secretory IgA (sIgA), as traditional intramuscular vaccines primarily elicit systemic IgG with limited mucosal protection. This study systematically compared mucosal immune responses induced by two authorized COVID‐19 mucosal vaccines: an orally aerosolized ...

Vaccine Induced Immune Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia After Sinopharm Vaccination: A Systematic Review of Case Reports

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 9, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Vaccine‐induced thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT) has been linked to vector‐based vaccines, but only four cases following whole‐virus vaccines (Sinopharm) have been reported, as far as we are aware. This systematic review aimed to compile the clinical and laboratory results of VITT development after Sinopharm vaccination.

Humoral Immune Response to Breakthrough Infection With SARS‐CoV‐2 Delta and Omicron Variants

open access: yesiLABMED, Volume 3, Issue 3, Page 266-274, September 2025.
Patients with breakthrough infections of the Omicron variant exhibited significantly higher levels of neutralizing antibodies and IgG than those infected with the Delta variant. By contrast, Delta‐infected patients showed higher levels of IgM and IgA than Omicron‐infected patients.

Evaluation of the Humoral Immune Response of a Heterologous Vaccination between BBIBP-CorV and BNT162b2 with a Temporal Separation of 7 Months, in Peruvian Healthcare Workers with and without a History of SARS-CoV-2 Infection

open access: yesVaccines, 2022
Information on the effects of a heterologous booster in adult patients first vaccinated with the BBIBP-CorV vaccine is limited. This prospective cohort study evaluated the humoral response of 152 healthcare workers (HCWs) from a private laboratory in ...

COVID‐19 Vaccine Hesitancy, Self‐Reported Adverse Events, and Determinants Among Ethiopian Healthcare Professionals During COVID‐19 Pandemic

open access: yesPublic Health Challenges, Volume 4, Issue 3, September 2025.
Among Ethiopian HCPs, 45.6% hesitated to take the first COVID‐19 vaccine dose due to safety and efficacy concerns. Addressing these through transparent communication and religious engagement is crucial to boost vaccine uptake. ABSTRACT This nationwide cross‐sectional online survey aimed to assess coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) vaccine hesitancy ...
