Atmospheric Boundary Layer Control on Forest Thermal Properties
Global Change Biology, Volume 32, Issue 4, April 2026.Forests do not just respond to weather, they actively shape it. Using a model of tropical forests, we show that how plants use water influences how much they heat the air above them: water‐saving plants warm the canopy and atmosphere, while water‐use strategies that promote evaporation help keep both cooler.
