Spherical Vesicles Distorted by a Grafted Latex Bead: An Exact Solution

open access: yes, 2007
We present an exact solution to the problem of the global shape description of a spherical vesicle distorted by a grafted latex bead. This solution is derived by treating the nonlinearity in bending elasticity through the (topological) Bogomol'nyi ...

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

One-Bead Microrheology with Rotating Particles

open access: yes, 2004
We lay the theoretical basis for one-bead microrheology with rotating particles, i.e, a method where colloids are used to probe the mechanical properties of viscoelastic media.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Perla cu portretele miniaturale în mozaic ale împăraţilor romani Constantin cel Mare, Constantinus II si Constanţius II descoperită la Bursuceni, Republica Moldova / Die Perlenmosaik mit Miniaturporträts des römischen Kaisers Konstantin der Große, Constantinus II und Constantius II aus Bursuceni, Republik Moldau

open access: yesTyragetia, 2014

New backup-bar groove configuration improves heliarc welding of 2014-T6 aluminum [PDF]

open access: yes, 1966
Backup chill bar with new grooved dimensions improve welding of 2014-T6 aluminum. This groove geometry affords optimum chilling characteristics, reduces shrinkage and the weld bead is narrower and consistently free from impurities or ...

Thermal Fluctuations in a Lamellar Phase of a Binary Amphiphile-Solvent Mixture: A Molecular Dynamics Study

open access: yes, 2003
We investigate thermal fluctuations in a smectic A phase of an amphiphile-solvent mixture with molecular dynamics simulations. We use an idealized model system, where solvent particles are represented by simple beads, and amphiphiles by bead-and-spring ...

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

Kinetics of Anchoring of Polymer Chains on Substrates with Chemically Active Sites

open access: yes, 1998
We consider dynamics of an isolated polymer chain with a chemically active end-bead on a 2D solid substrate containing immobile, randomly placed chemically active sites (traps).

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.
