Beam stripping interactions in compact cyclotrons
Beam stripping losses of H^{-} ion beams by interactions with residual gas and electromagnetic fields are evaluated. These processes play an important role in compact cyclotrons where the beam is produced on an internal ion source, and they operate under

Simulations of beam-beam and beam-wire interactions in RHIC
The beam-beam interaction is one of the dominant sources of emittance growth and luminosity lifetime deterioration. A current-carrying wire has been proposed to compensate long-range beam-beam effects in the LHC and strong localized long-range beam-beam ...

Beam offset due to beam-beam interactions at a warm linear collider
At a warm linear collider the short time interval at which bunches will pass near each other in the interaction region may lead to significant alteration of the bunches positions.

Human-Human Hand Interactions Aid Balance During Walking by Haptic Communication
Principles from human-human physical interaction may be necessary to design more intuitive and seamless robotic devices to aid human movement. Previous studies have shown that light touch can aid balance and that haptic communication can improve ...

Beam-beam effects at the Fermilab Tevatron: Theory
The Tevatron in Run II is operating with three trains of 12 bunches each. Long-range beam-beam interactions have been significant sources of beam loss and lifetime limitations of antiprotons.

Coherent beam-beam interaction with four colliding beams [PDF]
The coherent beam-beam interaction in the absence of Landau damping is studied with a computer simulation of four space-charge-compensated colliding beams. Results are presented for the modes, phase space structures, widths, and growth rates of coherent beam-beam resonances.

Transverse mode coupling instability of colliding beams
In high brightness circular colliders, coherent and incoherent beam dynamics are dominated by beam-beam interactions. It is generally assumed that the incoherent tune spread introduced by the beam-beam interactions is sufficiently large to cure any ...

In high energy storage-ring colliders, the nonlinear effect arising from beam-beam interactions is a major source that leads to the emittance growth, the reduction of beam life time, and limits the collider luminosity. In this paper, two models of beam-beam interactions are introduced, which are weak-strong and strong-strong beam-beam interactions.

Coherent beam-beam interactions in electron-positron colliders [PDF]
We present the results of a new calculational technique that evaluates the beam-beam force due to an arbitrary charge distribution. We find coherent instabilities that dominate at certain operating points and depend strongly on the degree of damping in the system.
