Mutually guided light and particle beam propagation
The polarizability of atoms and molecules gives rise to optical forces that trap particles and a refractive index that guides light beams, potentially leading to a self-guided laser and particle beam propagation.

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

Stability diagrams of colliding beams in the Large Hadron Collider
Most hadron synchrotrons rely on lattice nonlinearities for Landau damping of impedance driven coherent modes of oscillation. However, in a collider, the presence of beam-beam interactions strongly modifies the transverse amplitude detuning and therefore

Symmetrization of the beam-beam interaction in an asymmetric collider [PDF]
In order to attain high luminosity e+e− colliding beams proposed for new B Factories a consequence is a beam tune shift at the beam‐beam interaction point. Computer simulations have yielded results for unequal beam energies whereby beam blow up occurs for one beam and not for the other.

Effect of terahertz irradiation on DNA damage repair in living cells
We investigated the effect of terahertz (THz) wave irradiation on DNA double‐strand break (DSB) repair in living cells. We found that THz irradiation enhanced DSB repair at specific frequencies, whereas heat treatment inhibited it, indicating that this effect is nonthermal and frequency‐specific.

Modeling of nonlinear effects due to head-on beam-beam interactions
The beam-beam interaction is one of the most severe limitations on the performance of circular colliders, as it is an unavoidable strong nonlinear effect. As one aspires for greater luminosity in future colliders, one will simultaneously achieve stronger

The PADME beam line Monte Carlo simulation
The PADME experiment at the DAΦNE Beam-Test Facility (BTF) of the INFN Laboratory of Frascati is designed to search for invisible decays of dark sector particles produced in electron-positron annihilation events with a positron beam and a thin fixed ...

Observations of the beam-beam interaction [PDF]
The observed complexity of the beam-beam interaction is the subject of this paper. The varied observations obtained from many storage rings happen to be sufficiently similar that a prescription can be formulated to describe the behavior of the luminosity as a function of beam current including the peak value.
