Theoretical Aspects of the Beam-Beam Interaction

1980
Experimental data on the beam-beam limit in e+e− storage rings are compared to predictions from two models: the coherent beam-beam effect and the fourth-order coupling resonance excited by the beam-beam interaction. Better tunes for existing e+e− storage rings are recommended.

Analysis of Beam-Beam Interactions with a Large Crossing Angle

Physical Review Letters, 1995
The beam-beam interaction for a flat beam with a large horizontal crossing angle is studied for the case in which the vertical betatron function at the interaction point is comparable to the bunch length. It is shown that crossing with a large angle has less serious detrimental effects than is usually believed. A large crossing angle might have several

Nonlinear coupling in the crossing-angle beam-beam interaction

Physical Review E, 1994
The effects of the beam-beam interaction with a small crossing angle on large-amplitude particles in an [ital e][sup +][ital e[minus]] collider are studied. An analytical resonance analysis method is developed to understand the nonlinear coupling resonance driving mechanism.

The beam-beam interaction in e+e− storage rings

1994
Colliders are designed for studying relatively rare, small impact parameter collisions that produce elementary particles. This is not the dominant interaction between the beams, however. That dominant interaction, the beam-beam interaction, is due to the electromagnetic fields of the beams.
