Fast millimeter wave assisted beam-steering for passive indoor optical wireless networks

open access: yes, 2017
In light of the extreme radio congestion, the time has come to consider the upper parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. Optical beam-steered wireless communications offer great potential for future indoor short-range connectivity, due to virtually ...

Counterion Dependent Side‐Chain Relaxation Stiffens a Chemically Doped Thienothiophene Copolymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxidation of a thienothiophene copolymer, p(g3TT‐T2), via different doping strategies and dopant molecules resulted in materials with similar oxidation levels and a high electrical conductivity of ≈100 S cm−1. However, mechanical properties varied significantly, with sub‐glass transition temperatures and elastic moduli spanning from –44°C to –3°C and ...

Oxygen‐Tunnel Indium Tin Oxide Vertical Channel Transistors with Enhanced Current Density and Reliability for Monolithic 3D Compute‐In‐Memory Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxygen‐tunnel (OT) indium tin oxide (ITO) vertical channel transistors (VCTs) enable reliable, high‐density gain‐cell memory for monolithic 3D integration. A sandwiched SiN/SiO2/SiN OT stack selectively regulates oxygen transport, suppressing parasitic electrode oxidation while stabilizing channel oxygen vacancies, thereby suppressing carrier injection

Microswitch beam-steering grid [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
We propose new microswitch beam-steering grids to operate at 90 GHz and 240 GHz. The microswitch beam-steering grid has potential advantages over mechanical-scanning devices or active beam-steering reflectors based on diode grids such as lower loss and ...

Realization and Validation of Wide-Band Two-Type Unit Cell Reconfigurable Metasurface Reflect Array Antenna at E-Band Frequency

open access: yesApplied Sciences
A novel tunable E-band (78–82 GHz) Reconfigurable Electro-Mechanical Reflectarray (REMR) is demonstrated for beam focusing and steering. This design is based on our previous study, which achieved a 350° phase dynamic range in simulations, and is ...

Transfer Printing and Reconfiguration of Soft Electronics Using Digital Microfluidics and Laser Machining

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This paper presents a digital microfluidics‐based technique for transferring and reconfiguring soft nanomembranes. Laser‐machined nanothin membranes are picked up, transported, and aligned via tailored surface tension and the actuation of water droplets, enabling the development of flexible electronics, the integration of functional materials on 3D ...

Near‐Infrared Light‐Driven Zn/Au Janus Micromotors for Multiplex SERS Detection of Anticancer Drugs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Zn/Au Janus micromotors, propelled by thermophoretic effects under NIR light, function as active SERS platforms for single and multiplex detection of anticancer drugs. Their dynamic motion enhances analyte exchange at the Au interface, reducing saturation and competitive adsorption, thereby improving sensitivity and extending the linear detection range.
