Analysis of Factors Affecting the Seismic Performance of Widened Flange Connections in Mid-Flange H-Beams and Box Columns

open access: yesBuildings
Following the Northridge and Kobe earthquakes, research has increasingly focused on achieving high ductility in beam-to-column connections. This study investigates the seismic performance of connections featuring widened beam-end flanges in mid-flange H ...

Ductility of externally prestressed continuous concrete beams

open access: yesKSCE Journal of Civil Engineering, 2014
Ductility is a desirable structural property that allows stress redistribution and provides warning of impending failure. Factors affect the ductility of beams prestressed with external FRP tendons are different than those affect the ductility of ordinary bonded prestressed concrete beams due to lack of bond and linear stress-strain relationship of FRP

Strength and Ductility of Concrete Encased Composite Beams

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2012
Experimental research was conducted to investigate the structural behavior of concrete-encased composite beams. Specimens were tested under lateral loading. The test results indicate that the behavior and failure mode of the beam are greatly affected by the steel beam core. The beams showed highly ductile behavior.

Flexural Strength And Ductility Improvement Of Nsc Beams

open access: yes, 2011
In order to calculate the flexural strength of normal-strength concrete (NSC) beams, the nonlinear actual concrete stress distribution within the compression zone is normally replaced by an equivalent rectangular stress block, with two coefficients of α and β to regulate the intensity and depth of the equivalent stress respectively.

Finite Element Analysis of Plastic Behavior in RC Beam Supports with Composite Steel Deck Slabs under Cyclic Loading

open access: yesCivil Engineering Dimension
The performance of beam supports is essential for seismic resilience, particularly under the Strong Column–Weak Beam (SCWB) principle. To improve construction efficiency, steel deck-based composite slabs are increasingly adopted as alternatives to ...
